New playground equipment coming to Platte thanks to South Dakota Farm Bureau

Cooler weather is not stopping the community of Platte from celebrating new playground equipment in their community. The equipment was made possible thanks to the South Dakota Farm Bureau Centennial Community Initiative and will be recognized at an event on Friday, October 14, 2017 at the playground next to the new Platte swimming pool.

“Platte recently put in a new swimming pool, followed by a baseball and softball complex. New playground equipment was the next step this area needed to continue to provide entertainment and enjoyment for area families,” said Lyle Nepodal, president, Charles Mix County Farm Bureau. “Members of the Charles Mix County Farm Bureau helped with the installation of the equipment, and were proud to be part of adding color and life to this popular spot in Platte.”

The improvements were possible thanks to a $5,000 donation from the South Dakota Farm Bureau Centennial Community Initiative, combined with donations from the Charles Mix County Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau agent Pat Westendorf and the City of Platte.

The SDFB Centennial Community Initiative is a grant program for community projects that serve a need in a community, make a difference, have high visibility and reflect Farm Bureau’s mission and vision. SDFB invested $100,000 in local communities for community improvement projects during its centennial year in 2017.

The project in Platte, as well as other projects that took place during the SDFB Centennial Year will be recognized at the SDFB Centennial Convention, November 17-18, 2017 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.  To learn more about the Centennial Convention visit  www.sdfbf.org.
